Resonant Realms - Foundation is the starting point for everyone entering the Resonant Realms pathway.

This practical two-day workshop introduces the fundamental playing and listening skills needed to work confidently with Himalayan Singing Bowls and Gongs.

No previous experience is required, and you do not need to own or bring instruments.

This is not a Sound Healing or Sound Therapy workshop. The emphasis is on understanding the instruments themselves: how they respond, how different mallets affect the sound, how to play with control rather than unnecessary force, and how to listen beyond the initial strike into resonance, overtones, sustain and decay.

What You Will Explore

During the two days you will work practically with:

• handling and positioning Singing Bowls and Gongs

• choosing and using appropriate mallets

• producing clear, controlled sound

• fundamental striking and playing techniques

• differences in tone, response, dynamics and sustain

• listening into resonance, overtones, vibration and decay

• developing sensitivity to touch and movement

• learning when to play — and when to leave space

• basic flumie (friction mallet) technique

  
  

Participants work with a broad selection of instruments, allowing you to experience how different bowls, gongs and mallets respond.

A Foundation for Your Own Practice

Two days can establish strong foundations, but skill develops through continued listening, practice and experience.

Resonant Realms - Foundation is not a fast-track practitioner qualification. Its purpose is to give you the practical understanding and confidence from which your own sound practice can develop.

Workshops are limited to four participants and take place in the fully equipped Silence In Sound studio, with instruments and mallets provided.

Your Place in the Resonant Realms Pathway

Everyone begins with Foundation.

Foundation is a complete workshop in its own right. You do not have to continue any further.

If you wish to develop your practice beyond individual instrument skills, Foundation provides the prerequisite for Resonant Realms 1 - The Acoustic Soundscape.

Please note: Accommodation is not included, so early booking of local B&Bs is recommended as soon as possible for this event as we are located in a holiday destination area.
