Creative Sound Workshops
A Flexible Pathway for Developing Your Craft
Silence In Sound offers practical, small-group Creative Sound Workshops in Machynlleth, Mid Wales, for people who want to develop their playing, listening and creative sound skills.
These are not Sound Healing or Sound Therapy workshops. Our focus is on learning how to understand and play the instruments well, listen closely, develop control and gradually build the creative judgement needed to shape an individual soundscape.
The Resonant Realms Pathway
Resonant Realms is a progressive but flexible modular pathway.
Everyone begins with Resonant Realms - Foundation. From there, you can choose whether to continue into the Acoustic Soundscape and later, the Expanded Soundscape.
You do not have to complete all three modules. Each stage is complete in itself, allowing you to develop your skills as far as you wish.
If you choose to continue, each subsequent module builds directly upon the skills and experience developed in the one before it.

Understand What Happens Between Sounds
Building upon Foundation, Resonant Realms 1 moves from individual playing skills into acoustic composition.
Explore Singing Bowls, Gongs, Waterphone, Professional Flumies, bells, microphones and amplification while developing timing, texture, transitions, space, silence and the relationships between sounds.
Completion of Resonant Realms - Foundation is required.

Resonant Realms 2 - The Expanded Soundscape
Expand Sound Without Losing Intention
Resonant Realms 2 develops the acoustic and compositional skills established in Resonant Realms 1 through microphones, amplification, delay, reverb, looping, live processing and expanded sound technologies.
Technology is used to extend the soundscape rather than replace good playing, listening or judgement.
Completion of Resonant Realms 1 - The Acoustic Soundscape is required.

Why the Pathway Matters
