A Complimentary 20-Minute Sound Journey
A Complimentary 20-Minute Sound Journey
From Our Studio to Your Home
Set aside a little time, make yourself comfortable and experience a recorded soundscape featuring Himalayan Singing Bowls, Original Singing Gongs and complementary acoustic instruments.
This complimentary 20-minute Sound Journey has been created as an opportunity to pause, listen and experience the natural movement of sound from the comfort of your own home.
There is nothing you need to achieve and no prescribed way you should feel.
Simply listen.
Before You Begin
Choose a quiet time when you are unlikely to be disturbed.
You may prefer to sit in a comfortable chair or lie down with a cushion and blanket. Dim the lights, silence notifications and allow a few minutes to settle before beginning.
For the best listening experience:
-
Use good-quality speakers or headphones
-
Set the volume at a comfortable level
-
Turn off phone and computer notifications
-
Allow the complete recording to play without interruption
-
Keep a few quiet minutes free after it finishes
Please do not listen while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that requires your full attention..
The Experience
The recording unfolds gradually through layers of resonance, harmonics, texture and silence.
Rather than following a melody in the conventional sense, you are invited to notice how individual sounds emerge, develop, interact and disappear.
At times, your attention may rest on one clear tone. At others, you may hear a more complex field of harmonics or experience the sound as movement through the surrounding space.
You do not need to analyse what you hear. Allow your attention to move naturally between the individual instruments, the complete soundscape and the moments of quiet between them.
Listening Without Expectation
Every person experiences sound differently, and the same recording may feel different each time it is heard.
You may find the experience restful, absorbing, stimulating or simply interesting. Your attention may remain with the recording, drift towards other thoughts and then return.
All of these responses are natural.
There is no correct listening experience and no need to force relaxation. The invitation is simply to become curious about the sounds, the spaces between them and your own changing awareness as the journey unfolds.
A Simple Way to Begin
Before starting the recording, close your eyes and take two or three unhurried breaths.
Notice the physical support beneath you and the sounds already present in the room.
As the recording begins, allow each new sound to arrive without trying to hold on to it. Notice its character, movement and gradual disappearance.
When your attention wanders, gently return to listening.
When the Recording Ends
Remain comfortable for another minute or two after the final sound has faded.
Notice the remaining quiet before opening your eyes. Gradually become aware of the room and allow yourself time to move before continuing with your day.
You may wish to reflect briefly on:
-
Which sounds attracted your attention
-
How the soundscape changed over time
-
Whether your perception of the surrounding silence altered
-
Which instruments or textures you would like to explore further.
About the Instruments
This Sound Journey features instruments selected from the Silence In Sound studio collection, including Himalayan Singing Bowls and Original Singing Gongs.
Each instrument contributes its own tonal character, harmonic movement and natural decay. Together, they form an acoustic soundscape shaped through timing, contrast, space and careful listening.
To experience these instruments in person, you can arrange a private visit to our studio in Machynlleth, Mid Wales.
Continue Your Exploration
Silence In Sound offers creative sound workshops for practitioners, musicians and curious listeners who want to develop their practical skills and understanding.
Our workshops explore instrument control, compositional structure, deep listening and the creative relationship between resonance and silence.
