Silence In Sound is a specialist sound studio in Machynlleth, Mid Wales, offering individually selected Himalayan Singing Bowls, Original Singing Gongs and small-group creative sound education for practitioners who want to develop their craft seriously.
Our teaching is grounded in practical experience: understanding the instrument, learning how sound is created and controlled, listening deeply, developing judgement and ultimately creating a soundscape that is recognisably your own.

Original Singing Gongs
Original Singing Gongs are made exclusively for Silence In Sound from traditional bell metal (bell bronze), the same high-quality alloy associated with fine Himalayan Singing Bowls, and produced to our specifications for weight, thickness and tonal response.
Each gong is individually assessed for resonance, sustain, harmonic movement and responsiveness to both mallets and Professional Flumies. Every available gong has its own measured tonal centre and individual voice.
Creative Sound Workshops
Our workshops follow the RESONANT REALMS PATHWAY, a flexible modular programme that always begins with Foundation and allows practitioners to progress as far as their own practice requires.
Through practical work with Singing Bowls, Gongs, Flumies, Waterphone, microphones, amplification and expanded sound technologies, each stage develops greater control, listening, judgement and the ability to shape a coherent and increasingly individual soundscape.
Himalayan Singing Bowls
Our Himalayan Singing Bowls are individually selected for their tone, responsiveness, sustain and individual character rather than chosen simply by size or appearance.
Every bowl has its own acoustic personality, and where possible we provide measured hum tones, practical information and individual recordings to help you listen before making a decision.

Complimentary Sound Journey
Experience the sound of Silence In Sound from your own home with our complimentary 20-minute Sound Journey. The recording features Himalayan Singing Bowls, Original Singing Gongs and complementary sound instruments, arranged to create a gradual movement from resonance into stillness. We recommend listening through good-quality headphones or speakers in a comfortable, uninterrupted environment.

Our teaching does not depend upon fixed formulas, inherited assumptions or one prescribed way of working.
The Resonant Middle Way brings together practical skill, close listening, direct experience and creative enquiry. We encourage practitioners to understand what they are doing, question what they are told and discover what happens when technique develops into genuine creative judgement.

Silence In Sound is based in the historic market town of Machynlleth, surrounded by the mountains, valleys and coastline of Mid Wales. Our appointment-only studio provides a unique destination for practitioners, musicians and discerning individuals seeking specialist instruments and creative sound education. Machynlleth is accessible by road and rail, making it possible to combine a studio visit with time exploring the surrounding area.
